Valentine’s Day 2016 dawned with record breaking cold. I had to thaw a frozen pipe before heading out, which is just as well. There were wind chill warnings still in effect as I headed North.
Ames Mountain sits in the shadow of the more prominent Carr Mountain.
Won’t you take time to remember their victims?
After leaving the grisly scene, I headed up Ames from the Northwest. Someone had been there before me.
The Southern ridge had pleasant, sunny ledges, but it was a bit cold for sunbathing.

Time to go home.
